The story begins when the shattered remains of Doctor Neo Cortex's space station crash-land on Earth, setting free Uka Uka from a long imprisonment. He is revealed to be Aku Aku's evil twin brother, whom his sibling had locked away in the distant past to defend the planet. Upon regaining freedom, he immediately regroups with Dr. Neo Cortex and recruits Doctor Nefarious Tropy, the inventor of the Time Twisting Machine. This device allows their minions to collect Crystals and Gems from their original places in time. The plot centers on this trio's plan to gather these scattered crystals across different eras. Uka Uka acts as the driving supernatural force behind Cortex's operations, with his return sensed by Aku Aku at the Bandicoots' home, prompting the hero's journey through time to stop them.

In Their Own Story

The narrative of Crash Bandicoot: Warped unfolds immediately after the events of the second game. After Uka Uka is freed from the crash-landed ruins, he directs Doctor Neo Cortex and Doctor Nefarious Tropy to use the Time Twisting Machine. Their goal is to gather 25 crystals scattered across time before Crash and Coco Bandicoot can stop them. As the heroes travel through various eras to collect these crystals and defeat adversaries like Tiny Tiger, Dingodile, and Doctor N. Gin, the villains work in tandem under Uka Uka's command. The conflict culminates after all 25 crystals and gems are collected by Crash and Coco. Upon the defeat of Cortex and Uka Uka, the Time Twisting Machine implodes. This implosion traps Uka Uka in a timeless prison alongside Doctor Neo Cortex and Doctor Nefarious Tropy, who have been turned into infants.
